The ATYM Program
We do not have stringent rules for dealing with technology, but rather a set of flexible recommendations:
- Question and study the effects of technology on your life and your world.
- Critique technology with friends and family and discuss alternatives.
- Minimize your dependence on social media.
- Acknowledge your own unhealthy usage of technology and take steps to address it.
- Try turning your smartphone screen to black and white.
- Delete apps that steal your time.
- If possible, revert to a simple flip phone, or no cell phone at all.
- Spend time reading, writing, drawing, making music, thinking, stretching instead of online or watching corporate programming.
- Spend time in transit or at home without any media--just think, meditate, or be.
- Start a local group like ATYM.
- Spend more time making your own culture than consuming a corporate culture meant to enslave you.
